When we look at postpartum recovery I see two kinds of women at the one-year postpartum mark:

one is super fit, athletic and frankly looks like she never had a child (even though she has had three!); and the other is trying to work out hard but has some leaks, her abs never came back together and she keeps getting hurt and stalling her workout progress.

What is the difference between these two women? You might say genetics. Sure, genetics helps with stretch marks, extra skin, and athletic ability, but that’s not all we are talking about here. The fact is, some women are doing the right things to rebuild their inner core and get their pelvic floor back, and others simply are not.

About 70 % of women who conceive are troubled by the thought of gaining weight. There are common mistakes made every day in the first 6 months after having a baby that can cause lasting damage on the body. The good news is most of them are preventable. - Dr. Pankhuri Multani Khemani (PT)
